The Director of Nursing for Long Term Care is responsible for all aspects of nursing care within the Nursing & Rehabilitation facility. Partnering with the Chief Nursing Officer, Administrator, Medical Director, physician staff and nursing leaders, they develop and sustain an environment that supports excellence in clinical practice and quality resident care.

ATTRIBUTES
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
As of 9/1/2016, all incumbents must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing within 30 months of hire.
Minimum of 4 years of nursing leadership experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing; preferably in long term care, rehabilitation or complex care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership. Develops and sustains an environment that supports collaboration, open communication, mentoring, and career development. Maintains a positive, safe and caring environment for residents and staff. Assumes responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
Resident Care. Develop relationships with residents and families to ensure quality resident care. Partners with interdisciplinary teams to meet and exceed resident care goals. Facilities joint planning with staff, peers, and colleagues to develop programs to improve resident care and creatively address the changing needs of residents.
Clinical Practice Develops programs and strategies to monitor the quality of nursing care and resident outcomes. Participates in planning and implementation of education programs that support staff development from novice to expert.
Quality Improvement. Develops strategies to monitor and improve the quality of nursing care and resident outcomes. Focused implementation of practice standards to improve nursing care, satisfaction and retention outlined by the Pathway of Excellence designation.
Operations. Develops long term staffing patterns to support quality clinical care. Works closely with support service functions to monitor and manage employee relations, recruitment and retention initiatives. Responsible for regular monitoring of clinical and financial performance.
