The Bakersfield Heart Hospital is seeking a Director of Surgery and Sterile Processing

Work Schedule: Flexible schedules to cover all shifts weekends, and call, as hospital needs demand.

This professional staff member is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of his/her assigned unit(s). The Director of Surgery and Sterile Processing Department (SPD), provides support to the staff by directing, monitoring and evaluating the patient load and ensures that patient care is optimized through the proper allocation of staffing resources. As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, the Director of Surgery and SPD works collaboratively with the other members to assure safe and accurate delivery of care. In addition, the Director of Surgery and SPD serves as a resource for technical services in a cross-functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs.

The Director of Surgery & SPD is accountable to the Chief Nurse Executive and works closely with other Department Directors. As a Director of Surgery and he or she is responsible for the management of the department. The director is the lead facilitator for the hospital departments, physicians, external agencies, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals. The director oversees the daily operations of the department, assisting nursing staff in providing quality outcomes for OR surgical patients. The director sustains performance while tracking and reporting impact of surgical care delivery patients' quality of life, physicians' and nurses enrichment/satisfaction, error reduction, length of stay measures and patient care resource management.

Qualifications/Specifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program. BSN preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Registered Nurse with current state licensure. Current BLS and ACLS certification. CNOR preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years acute care nursing with emphasis on cardiology/cardiovascular care.
