Position description
The APP in Nephrology at Mayo Clinic will provide a combination of patient care in the clinic setting, and outpatient dialysis setting. Areas of focus for this role will be chronic kidney disease including patients with end stage kidney disease maintained on dialysis. We are seeking members for our dynamic Nephrology team. Our team needs members who can quickly adapt to the demands of providing life-saving therapies while providing compassionate care. A general flexible approach will be necessary, as the healthcare environment continues to reflect the changing demands of our patients.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant has advanced health assessment and decision-making skills, prepared through a formal educational program that meets criteria established by the profession. This individual works in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide health care across the continuum of care for assigned patients. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: obtaining patient history, comprehensive assessment, ordering (including ordering dialysis), conducting, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments, and non-pharmacological therapies. Monitors the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's cultural and social economic status is required. The candidate demonstrates leadership through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and research and actively seeks to improve the practice through performance improvement initiatives. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess strong computer skills. Must be able to work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary team. Must be flexible and willing to handle change.

Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Must have current Minnesota RN license and certification as a FNP, ACNP or ANP,

Or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice.

Additional qualifications
Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges. Must be have basic life support with advance cardiac life support encouraged.

Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.

Monday through Friday exempt status, no weekends or holidays. Travel to a Mayo dialysis satellite site one to two days per month.
