Position description
The Radiation Oncology team has a 1.0 FTE opportunity available to support our growing Minnesota practice in Mankato, MN. The outpatient Radiation Oncology advanced practice provider (APP) will work closely with a team of physicians, APPs, and RNs to evaluate outpatient Radiation Oncology patients for treatment, contribute to the treatment plan, manage the care of patients undergoing radiation therapy, and provide post-therapy follow up care. The incumbent will be part of a team of 8 regional-based APPs and 28 Rochester-based APPs. This position will require occasional travel to radiation practices in Northfield and Albert Lea; remote coverage may also be incorporated in this role. There may be opportunity to share after hours call coverage that does not require onsite presence.
Provision of care include comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, comprehensive patient education, and psychosocial support of the patient and family experiencing cancer. The APP will interact with outside referring medical institutions for communication of mutual patient care as well as requesting tests and establishing a plan for follow-up care.
Our Care Team model promotes collaborative, team-based care with opportunity to practice independently in caring for post-treatment patients. APPs are encouraged to participate in research and publications, as well as quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license (or eligible) and certification (or eligible to be certified) as a FNP or ANP; or graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (or eligible).
Additional qualifications
Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
