Position description
The Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) will work closely with a team of two physicians and a registered nurse (our department care team model), evaluating outpatient Radiation Oncology patients for treatment, contributing to the treatment plan, and managing the care of patients undergoing radiation therapy. The position will help provide coverage throughout the various disease site care teams, with the potential to be assigned to a specific team as care team needs are identified.

The incumbent will be part of a team of twenty-seven Rochester-based NP/PA providers. The NP/PA may also have the unique opportunity to practice independently-managing an individual calendar of patients seen for follow up visits-as well as work collaboratively with team physicians to see new consults and weekly patient treatment visits. Provision of care may include comprehensive assessment and diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, comprehensive patient education, and psychosocial support of the patient and family experiencing cancer.

The NP/PA will collaborate with our Inpatient NP/PA in seeing hospital consults as well as in collaboration with the team consultant during call-week. The NP/PA will have the opportunity to grow professionally by providing cross-coverage for other subspecialty radiation oncology physicians at Charlton SL Desk R/Jacobson SL West. NP/PA's are encouraged to participate in research and publications, as well as quality improvement projects.
