The Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function and heart valve dysfunction.

As a Registered Nurse III, you will assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. You will work in a fast-paced environment (Electrophysiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedure rooms and Holding area). You will also be cross-trained to use your clinical proficiencies to circulate, monitor, scrub for invasive procedures for a population from neonate to geriatric. This role entails care of Cardiac patients from point of admission to discharge, including prolonged hours in a procedure setting with x-ray exposure. Responsibilities include: On-call coverage for emergency procedures evenings, nights, weekends with an expected 30-minute maximum response/arrival time.

The schedule for this position will be four (4) ten-hour shifts on weekdays, and some Saturdays, as well as being on-call for nights and weekends approximately nine (9) times during a six-week period. Employees who live more than 30 minutes from the facility will stay in a local hotel while on-call in order to be available during emergencies.

Educational Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required

• BSN Preferred

Licenses:

• Current, unrestricted California RN License required

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience required

• Applicants with more than 1 but less than proven ability are welcome to apply for consideration as a Clinical Nurse II

• At least 1 year of critical care experience strongly recommended

• PACU training and experience preferred

• PACU trained RNs will be eligible for Clinical Nurse III qualification, otherwise Clinical Nurse II title will apply
