Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:

At the time of application and appointment, applicants must have:
  • Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing; AND
  • A current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Employees in this classification must maintain Michigan Registered Nurse licenses throughout employment with Wayne County.

Full-time permanent (with Benefits) and part-time positions (No Benefits) are available at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Positions are for a five (5) day schedule and may include any 5 day period between Monday through Sunday, including holidays. Premium pay is received for afternoon and midnight shifts, as well as, holidays and weekends.

Employees in this class may be mandated to work overtime /Job shift will be disclosed during job offer

Opportunity for change in job shift is based on seniority.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:

Registered Nurse 1's give professional nursing care and treatment in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Registered Nurses in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility evaluate health needs of juveniles and refers as indicated by policy and procedure to the appropriate health provider, demonstrate knowledge in advanced first aid and emergency care, has knowledge in all policies and procedures pertaining to Medical and Psychiatric treatment of juveniles detained in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility, monitor and maintain the medical and mental health treatment of juveniles, maintain supplies and equipment and ensuring the juveniles are in a clean and safe environment and other related duties as assigned. General assignments are received from Registered Nurses of higher rank and members of the medical staff may give specific instructions. Registered Nurses may supervise the work of Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Assistants, or other auxiliary nursing service personnel.

Employees in the class will have an additional 2% of base salary for one year of experience; an additional 2% for 2 or more years of experience. Employees in this classification will receive $2600 premium pay for working at the JDF only; prorated throughout the year/26 pays.

After the successful completion of one (1) year of county service, employees shall be upgraded to the next higher classification level.
