Note: The work location is 100% on-site in Newark, NJ.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of the director, provide primary care, manage health problems, and coordinate health care for persons living with or at risk of HIV at the Infectious Disease Practice, in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations, nursing standards of care, clinic and DHHS guidelines.
  • Take medical histories, perform physical examinations including women's reproductive and sexual health care, and order and interpret lab tests.
  • Manage medications, referrals to specialty care as medically appropriate and coordination of patient care with a diverse team of individuals.
  • Assist clinic operations and be a key resource for nurses and ambulatory care technicians.
  • Arrange for appropriate plan of care and follow-up based on outcome of diagnostic, lab, and physical assessment findings.
  • Consult with physician as needed.

Required Skills:
  • Successful completion of a master's level Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • At least five years' experience as a nurse in clinical setting.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of New Jersey.
  • The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Must maintain BLS (CPR).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LGBT health-related concerns.
  • Excellent phlebotomy and physical assessment skills are essential.
  • Must exhibit cultural sensitivity to working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office components.
  • Ability to work cooperatively/collaboratively as part of a team, developing productive working relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to assist with clinical operations as needed and serve as a key resource for nurses and ambulatory care technicians.
  • Prior experience working with adult populations with HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases preferred.
  • Women's Health experience preferred.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Vitalief partners with clients such as major medical centers and academic institutions that requires all on-site resources such as prospective Vitalief consultants to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated for Covid-19; inoculated annually for Influenza; and successfully pass a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
