Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The LPN/LVN is a licensed practical/vocational nurse, functioning under the Medical Direction of Convenient MD. The LPN is provided with the education and skills of medication administration, patient education, and general clinical skills. The LPN will work in place of an MA, UCT or CCT when unavailable, and work in addition to the RN

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Patient triage, to include but not limited to: vital signs; medical history; observational examination. LPN may interview, collect data and make observations to contribute to the plan of care. The LPN may not make an independent nursing diagnosis or initiate a plan of care.
  2. Assist with any and all patient exams, testing and procedures under the direction of the provider (i.e. I&Ds, pelvic exams, splinting, casting, etc.)
  3. Assist with the following testing & procedures:

1. Vision testing

2. Hearing/audiometry testing

3. Urine drug screen testing

4. Breath alcohol testing

5. Lift testing

6. Peak flow testing

7. Pulmonary function testing (spirometry)

8. Impact Testing

9. Ear Irrigation

10. Eye wash flushing

11. Wound soaking & cleansing.

12. Tuberculosis screening

13. Point of care testing: Strep, FLU, RSV, SARs-CoV-2, Capillary Glucose, Mono, HCG, Urinalysis, FOBT/Guaiac, Lipid Panel (obtained via CardioChek Analyzer), Chemistry & CBC
  1. Sterile technique in wound care management, dressing application, trauma patients, burn care and instrument cleaning and sterilization
  2. Suture & staple removal
  3. Blood draw/phlebotomy
  4. Insert & monitor peripheral venous access if accredited/board approved IV therapy course has been completed
  5. Airway management through nebulizer treatment, oral suctioning, oxygen administration & ventilation with AMBU bag.
  6. Cardiac Management through application of 12 Lead ECG, CPR-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and defibrillation by AED
  7. Prepare PD-Rx medications (ME & NH)
  8. Administration of immunizations
  9. Medication administration as outlined by the CMD Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice
  10. Administration of hot & cold packs
  11. Assist with patient call backs to include, but not limited to, answering of patient questions, reporting test results, medication/therapy changes
  12. Assist with calling in prescriptions to patient requested pharmacy
  13. Reporting of Communicable Diseases
  14. Ensures operation of clinical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs or reporting repair needs to clinic PM
  15. Assists in maintaining adequate clinical supplies inventory by checking & notating when stock levels are low
  16. Keeps work area and exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly
  17. Maintains accurate, complete records & reports
  18. Documents patient education and care in EMR and all other applicable areas
  19. Interact with patients in a positive and helpful manner, provide information and assistance as needed
  20. Maintains confidentiality with all patient information by upholding HIPAA laws and rules
  21. Complies with all ConvenientMD policies, protocols & procedures
  22. Participates in the training of new team members.
  23. Other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:
  1. Two years of experience preferred; urgent care or ED experience preferred
  2. Licensed LPN
  3. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification Preferred; American Red Cross BLS Certification Accepted
  4. IV Therapy Certification preferred
  5. Must be able to work 12hr shifts and weekends

Physical Requirements:
  1. Requires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time. Some bending and stooping is required.
  2. Must be able to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements.
  3. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
