General Internal Medicine (F6/5) is a fast-paced medical unit that offers challenging and rewarding nursing opportunities. We are seeking a Registered Nurse : Help provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a professional environment that fosters and values collaboration, respect, and education.
Join a team of remarkable nurses and have the opportunity to care for general care patients with complex medical diagnoses.
The General Internal Medicine Unit is a 28-bed inpatient, general medicine unit focused on high-quality patient care and medical education. The unit is home to all three general medicine teaching services; most of F6/5's patients are on these services.
You may also care for "Special Pathogens" populations. Education : Preferred - Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Work Experience : Minimum - One (1) year relevant clinical experience. Preferred - Two (2) years of recent experience in acute care in medical/surgical nursing. Licenses and Certifications : Minimum - Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification. Preferred - Medical-Surgical Nurse Certification. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities : Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
Experience in teaching patients and families.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members. Physical Requirements : Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Variable 4/8/12-hour evening/night shifts scheduled between the hours of 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, or 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Every other weekend and holidays required, no on-call. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
