Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire experienced full-time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), day and night shifts available, with LTACH or ICU experience to provide optimal care for our long-term acute care patients. Our full time LPN's work (3) 12 hour shifts per week including every other weekend.

LPN hourly rates commensurate with experience. Additional differentials are offered for night and weekend shifts. Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), the LPN provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients and implements plan of care formulated by physician and Registered Nurse. Working under the RN, the LPN provides medication administration, ostomy care, wound care, oral care, draws lab work, and trach care. Provides accurate and timely documentation consistent with plan of care. Assesses and provides patient/client and family caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and plan of care. Maintains safe and healthy working environment and uses safe work methods and procedures in accordance with company clinical standards. Participates in coordination with Registered Nurse and clinical management. Assists patient in learning appropriate self-care activities. The position involves direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Individuals in patient care positions are required to lift a patient with or without assistance

67-100% of work time: Lifting requirements 2-30 pounds

34-66% of work time: Standing and walking, Lifting requirements 31-40 pounds

1-33% of work time: Sitting, twisting, using arm, leg, and back muscles frequently or for extended periods, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, climbing, Lifting requirements 41-51 pounds or more

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current NJ state LPN license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within (2) months of hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in EMR systems preferred
