UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT HEALTH NETWORK

The Division of Emergency Medicine at The Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) at the University of Vermont is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician desiring to pursue a career in academic emergency medicine. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (Clinical Scholar Pathway) will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments. Clinical responsibilities will be at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT and one or more of the UVMHN affiliate partner EDs.  Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) in Plattsburgh, New York. CVPH is the largest community partner in the University of Vermont Health Network (UVMHN) and a training site for the Emergency Medicine residency and fourth-year LCOM students, and Elizabethtown Community Hospital has two clinical sites, providing critical access care in Elizabethtown, NY, and Ticonderoga, NY.  Location and allocation of effort will be determined through the interview process and dependent upon provider experience and interests.

The University of Vermont Medical Center is the primary teaching hospital of the Larner College of Medicine. It is an ACS verified Level 1 Trauma Center for adult and Level 2 Trauma Center for pediatric patients. It is a major tertiary referral center for the state of Vermont and upstate New York. With an historical annual census of 62,000 patients with high acuity, the Emergency Department is known for high quality patient care and dedicated teaching faculty.  UVMMC is the home and primary clinical site for the Emergency Medicine residency and 14 other residency and 21 fellowship programs accredited by the ACGME.

CVPH is a community medical center and a regional referral hospital serving as an ACS Level 3 trauma center, partnered with the University of Vermont Medical Center. Historically, the ED at CVPH treats more than 40,000 emergency department patients per year. This position offers the unique opportunity to work in a community setting while having an active affiliation with the UVMHN Emergency Medicine residency and participate in medical student education. Successful candidates will have opportunities to participate in the academic, educational, and scholarly missions of the UVMHN.

ECH is a community medical center with two sites, both EDs staffed by community and academic Emergency Medicine providers.  Both sites, Elizabethtown and Ticonderoga, provide critical access care with approximately 7,000 visits per year per site.  The UVMHN is dedicated to providing high quality, efficient, patient-centered emergency care in our rural settings, a strategic aim for our Division and a point of emphasis for our academic and clinical missions.
