The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zurich invites applications for an

Assistant Professorship (non tenure track) for Clinical Immunology

The position is limited to six years and is located at the Department of Immunology of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ).

The Assistant Professor will devote his or her time equally to research and teaching as well as patient care. Zurich offers an excellent academic environment with the opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration with groups at the USZ, the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. The successful candidate shall be a clinician-scientist with experience in clinical immunology and hold a speciality title in clinical immunology or a related area. She or he will serve as a consultant physician in the Department of Immunology. The Department of Immunology is fully committed to offering the successful candidate a long-term perspective.

Internationally competitive research in immunopathogenesis and immune regulation of systemic autoimmune diseases is expected. Moreover, in-depth experience and expertise in key research methods of immunology is required.

Active participation in education, training, and promotion of young investigators is desired. In particular, the involvement of junior clinical academic staff in research is of great importance for the further development of clinical immunology. Experience in teaching courses and lectures as well as experience in the supervision of master theses and/or dissertations is of advantage.

German language skills on level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time. The University of Zurich and the University Hospital Zurich are committed to increasing the proportion of women in leadership positions. Therefore, qualified female researchers are explicitly encouraged to apply.

The University of Zurich sees researchers as modern leaders who conduct excellent research – taking into account the Open Science principles – through original research projects as well as the promotion of excellent young researchers and who help to shape a future-oriented university with innovative research-based teaching.
