POSTING for Maternal-Fetal Medicine position at the McGill University, Jewish General Hospital site.

 

Position Description: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at McGill University invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). This is a contract faculty position and does not confer tenure eligibility.

 

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Division comprises subspecialists who care for mothers and unborn fetuses with complex pregnancy related conditions, offering tertiary and quaternary care for patients from across a wide referral area. Our division members have special expertise in many fields including ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, prenatal genetics, preterm labor, multiple gestations and perinatal infectious diseases. Patients with pre-existing medical issues, those who develop high-risk complications during pregnancy, those whose fetus has an anomaly and any patients in whom the need for tertiary care is anticipated, may be transferred to us during pregnancy.

 

Our specialists conduct consultations, diagnostic procedures and perform fetal therapies and interventions. We collaboratively manage women with chronic illnesses with other hospital specialist services. Such as, there are dedicated clinics for endocrinological disorders of pregnancy, medical disorders of pregnancy, haematological disorders of pregnancy, multiple pregnancies and pregnancies in women with congenital or acquired heart disease.

 

We have an active education program offering a MFM subspecialty residency program, and at the MUHC an advanced Obstetric and Gynaecologic Ultrasound Fellowship and a Genetics in Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship. Our members conduct research in a wide range of clinical settings. Our members are active in a number of national and international organisations including the SOGC (Genetics and MFM Committees), NAFTNET and ISUOG, and have contributed to several national guidelines.

 

Job Duties: The successful candidate will be a member of the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the Jewish general Hospital. They are expected to perform clinical duties and attend division meetings as well as provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to undergraduate medical students, residents, and fellows. The candidate will also contribute to academic endeavours and administrative committees as per departmental bylaws, and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all academic activities. McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University and the wider scholarly community.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements: Must have an MD degree and hold or be eligible for licensure to practice medicine from the Collège des médecins du Québec, have completed a specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, followed by a recognized fellowship in MFM, with certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent). Candidate must be fluent in English with a working knowledge of French.
