The Department of Urology at Dalhousie University, and the Division of Urology at the IWK Health Centre are seeking a full-time academic urologist with subspecialty training in Pediatric Urology. This position will hold a Continuing Appointment with Annual Academic Career Development at the appropriate academic rank within the Faculty of Medicine. In addition to pediatric patient care, the candidate will participate in adult urology as it relates to transitional care and complex congenital conditions. Additional academic responsibilities will include teaching, research and administration. The successful candidate will join an established twelve member Department of Urology, including 2 other pediatric urologists, with strong interests in clinical and basic research. Candidates must hold an MD plus FRCSC (Canada) qualification in Urology, or equivalent qualifications, and must have completed an accredited Pediatric Urology fellowship. Additional training or education, including a Master’s or PhD Degree will be recognized but is not mandatory. Candidates will have a proven and ongoing research track record. A commitment to developing an academic career in a field of research is expected. Candidates must demonstrate an interest and commitment to medical education, and be expected to participate in undergraduate and post-graduate education. Competitive remuneration will come from an Alternative Funding Plan (AFP), and protected academic time will be available depending on the individual practice profile. Applicants with interest and applicable experience may be considered for senior leadership roles, including Head of the Division of Pediatric Urology.
