The Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Surgery request applications and nominations for a full-time, Congenital Cardiac Surgeon faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank without tenure track. This position will have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30). The salary and rank are commensurate with training, experience and academic qualifications with an expected start date in Spring or Summer 2021. 

Congenital Cardiac Surgeons at SCH are responsible for providing the full spectrum of cardiac surgical care for pediatric patients, including neonatal surgery, heart transplantation, and mechanical cardiac support at both SCH and Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.  This position will actively participate in quality assessment and quality improvement programs at both institutions.  Additional responsibilities include engagement in the selection and training of residents and fellows.  All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

The candidates must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) degree and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) certified/qualified (or foreign equivalent) in Cardiothoracic Surgery, and be board certified/eligible for a subspecialty certificate in Congenital Cardiac Surgery by the ABTS.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
