We are seeking a Physician, Physician Scientist or Staff Clinician who specializes in Interventional Radiology. This position is located in the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center's (CC) Radiology and Imaging Sciences Department which provides consultative services in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology procedures for NIH patients, and conducts collaborative multi-disciplinary translational research and development at the world’s largest dedicated biomedical research institution. Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Interventional Oncology (CIO) and the Chief of Interventional Radiology, this position serves as an interventional radiologist who is responsible for image guided interventional procedures as well as performs and/or directs interventional studies, consults with patient care physicians, supports quality control, participates in research and helps educate trainees, including medical students, radiology residents, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting radiologists. Within this framework of collaborative clinical and translational team science research, opportunities exist for simultaneously providing quality patient care and collaborative research and teaching, while applying imaging methods to diseases under study.
The NIH Radiology and Imaging Sciences Department has recently completed upgrades to the radiology and IR facilities, including an intra-operative MR, new multi-modality animal IR facilities, and a futuristic IR suite including a one-of-a-kind combination Angio/CBCT/ US/ CT suite with integrated electromagnetic tracking, robotics, Cone beam CT navigation, multimodality fusion, and augmented reality. Some of the areas of clinical and translational opportunities in Interventional Radiology include percutaneous ablation and drug eluting bead embolotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma or fusion biopsy and ablation for prostate cancer, heat activated targeted and image-able drug delivery, image-guided ablation with RFA, microwave, laser, cryo, IRE, or HIFU, as well as novel vascular and interventional devices, regional therapies for immunotherapy, deep learning AI, interventional gadgetry, and serial smart biopsy.
The ideal candidate will be Board Certified in Interventional Radiology with interest, experience, and focus on Interventional Oncology or IR clinical research. Laboratory experience in interventional oncology or IR preferred, as well as history of translational or laboratory IR / IO research. Experience with multidisciplinary teams, as well as experience in IR research is desirable. In addition, clinical skill, acumen, and strong knowledge of clinical IR and medicine is preferred for customized IR care during the inpatient and outpatient cycle.
The recruitment is for a Physician (Clinical), GP-14, 0602 with salary ranging from $121,316-$350,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
