Pediatric Colorectal Fellowship
The Center for Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a leading institution in the care for children with colorectal conditions, is recruiting for a one-year fellowship, from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022. Fellows may remain for a second year to pursue additional research. The fellowship will focus on advanced colorectal surgery and collaboration with related specialties including GI motility and pelvic reconstruction. The fellow will have dedicated research time, participate in data collection and QI projects, and experience an optimal curriculum for pediatric surgical education related to colorectal surgery.
Educational objectives:
- Understand newborn assessment of associate malformations and anorectal malformations
- Understand proper newborn radiologic evaluation for anorectal malformations
- Determine correct newborn surgical intervention in anorectal malformations
- Understand newborn assessment and treatment of Hirschsprung’s disease
- Develop expertise in surgical management of index colorectal conditions
- Understand multidisciplinary medical and surgical management for the variety of colorectal problems
- Understand surgical interventions for fecal incontinence
- Understand assessment of complex Hirschsprung’s disease with postoperative soiling or obstructive symptoms
- Understand medical and surgical management of intractable idiopathic constipation
Eligible candidates should have completed at least 3 years of general surgery of an ACGME-approved (or equivalent) general surgical residency.
