The Robert E. Larner, MD, College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and The University of Vermont Medical Center are seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on the clinical scholar pathway to expand a program for Primary Care Mental Health Integration at the University of Vermont.

This attending psychiatrist will join an existing team of licensed psychiatrists, psychologists and behavioral health care managers to treat an array of mental health disorders in outpatient primary care offices affiliated with the University of Vermont Medical Center. He or she will provide leadership for an innovative program designed to integrate mental health services in office-based primary care.

The Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine of the University of Vermont Psychiatry Service hosts medical students on clerkships and electives, sponsors a residency in psychiatry, and sponsors a fellowship in child psychiatry. This faculty member will be a key participant in the education of trainees at several levels.

The selected candidate will demonstrate the training and expertise to provide direct patient care, collaborate with other professional disciplines, and work with referring providers.  In addition, he or she will be responsible for supervision and teaching of house officers, medical students, and other staff.  An appreciation of the importance of and satisfaction from performing these critical functions and an ability to work collaboratively are essential.   

Applicants must have a medical degree and be board certified (preferably) or board eligible in psychiatry. Formal training in child and adolescent psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry or suitable experience is very desirable.
