Job Summary The Lewistown General Surgery team is seeking a Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to join its growing team.

Perform, under the responsibility and supervision of the physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. Assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the physician. Act as a patient advocate in the medical care system serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between the patient and physician.
Job Duties
The General Surgery team at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital has an opening for an Advance Practitioner to join their team

Position Details:
  • Ability to be first assist
  • shared call, coverage at Lewistown Hospital and potential coverage at Gray's Woods ( State College) as well
  • OR and clinic time
  • AP will see a variety of General Surgery Patients including some breast and colorectal.

Additional info:
  • Performs initial assessment and triage of patients based on information obtained pertinent to presenting condition.
  • Keeps track of pertinent procedure and laboratory results, discusses with physician, and returns call to family and patient regarding the results and plans.
  • Assists with arranging appropriate follow-up for the patients.
  • Answers and returns phone calls from established patients and their families and assess the needs of patient and family.
  • Discusses plan with the physician and relays information to the family and patient.
  • Obtains or assists in the preauthorization process for medications, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
  • which the employee is qualified to perform.
  • Screening patients.

Education Master's Degree-Physician Assistant (Required)
Certification(s) and License(s) Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
