Family Medicine Clinic

Job Description

The residency program must include faculty in addition to the program director. The preceptors in the Family Medicine Clinic are expert competency evaluators who work closely with the Family Practice Program Director and Clinic Medical Director, who assist in developing and implementing the evaluation system, and who teach and advise residents.

Qualifications of the key faculty are as follows:

Must hold current certification from the American Board o Family Medicine

Be specifically trained in the evaluation and assessment of the ACGME competencies;

Must be clinicians with broad knowledge of, experience with, and commitment to family medicine as a discipline, patient centered care, and to the generalist training of residents; and,

Are clinically active, either in direct patient care or in the supervision of patient care;

Responsibilities are as follows:
Family Medicine Clinic Precepting
Precepts as needed in the FP Clinic
Supervises residents during Family Practice Clinic direct patient care and troubleshoots resident patient care issues during covered clinic hours

Completes precepting note on each resident patient encounter at the time of service and countersigns note the day of the patient visit

Acts as a resident mentor as assigned by the Program Director

Completes resident/student evaluations.

Additional responsibilities may include any of the following as assigned by the Program Director or Clinic Medical Director as well as other activities as deemed necessary for optimization of residency training.Curriculum development

Direct observation of resident skills to fulfill requirements for milestones observations

Participate in resident summative evaluations as scheduled

Provide direct feedback to residents (and students) concerning performance based on milestones

Participate in residency committees as requested CCC (clinical competency committee), PEC (Program Evaluation Committee), APE (Annual Program Evaluation)

WRHE's Internal Medicine program is ACGME accredited and is approved for a total of 40 residents. The Internal Medicine Residency Clinic Medical Director position provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced physician leader to engage WRCS residents, faculty and community partners to enhance healthcare in communities in which we serve.
