Overview:
St. Luke's Health System in Idaho seeks a board certified surgeon or anesthesiologist for our new Surgical Services Medical Director opportunity in Twin Falls. The selected physician will engage in a multitude of activities that are essential to operations and institutional strategy. Essential Job FunctionsAssign OR block time in accordance with Health System policy, monitor block time utilization and engage with surgeons to optimize utilization.Proactively address physician performance and behavior issues in collaboration with service line leaders, medical staff, and the area Chief Medical Officer. Serve as the accountable physician leader to implement system surgical standards and initiatives, monitoring key performance indicators to ensure achievement of targeted measures. Participate in and contribute to strategic development discussions for surgical services to achieve St. Luke's Health System goals as it relates to the operative environment.Serve as the accountable communicator between providers, operational leaders and administrative leaders, providing accurate, timely communication of strategic plans, goals, values and policies to all appropriate stakeholders.Foster positive working relationships among all team members, demonstrating the values and behaviors of St. Luke's leadership, inspiring constituents to achieve ever-improving patient-centered care outcomes.Provide input, support and assist with implementation of policies, procedures, applicable standards of The Joint Commission (TJC) and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.Support administrative leadership in optimizing the financial performance of the unit, including supply chain and Pharmacy and Therapeutic standardization, as appropriate.Partner with leaders throughout the St. Luke's Health System to ensure reduction in care variation and standardization, where possible. ResponsibilitiesEngage in leadership to ensure compliance with Health System policies.Lead operational process improvements.Assist in prioritization of capital requests.Implement collegial conversations regarding concerns that arise in operational activities with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff and support staff.Lead the OR Case Review Committee and applicable local surgical oversight committees.Evaluate and act upon OR safety data.Evaluate and act upon OR SSI data.Facilitate Service Line plans to optimize efficiency resource utilization.Facilitate and lead load leveling efforts to optimize not only OR utilization but also to permit optimal OR throughput. Lead and inform supply chain initiatives. QualificationsEducation: Graduation from an accredited and respected school of Medicine or Osteopathy and successful completion of an accredited residency program. Advanced degree in business, healthcare administration, healthcare quality improvement, or other is desirable, but not required.Experience: At least 3 years of clinical practice required. Demonstration of progressive leadership roles within healthcare organization(s) with proven history of successfully leading complex change and improving processes in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Successful leader of broad-based services or programs.Characteristics: Exceptional professional and personal reputation, dedicated to the care and well-being of the region's patients.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and cultural backgrounds.Creative problem solver; able to bring opposing mindsets to a shared vision.Ability to communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and appropriately.
