Nurse Practitioner - Dual Hospitalist & Critical Care House Officer

Practice Description:
M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join their Hospitalist Program. This will be a dual role with responsibilities that include acting as a House provider and Hospitalist. Along with the rapid response team, the House APP provides immediate medical care to inpatients, outpatients utilizing hospital outpatient services, and on-site hospital visitors for urgent and emergency situations 24/7. On site hospitalist physicians are available for back up, however the role is largely autonomous. The Hospitalist APP is comprised of multiple roles including admitting team (2), observation, and rounding. Fairview Southdale Hospital has good ancillary support from dedicated RNs, RN Care Coordinators, Social Workers, Pharmacists, etc. The medical staff is comprised of multiple specialty and subspecialty services who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive medical care to the patients at Southdale. Practice Details: House RoleResponds and leads all rapid response team calls (examples: altered mental status, chest pain evaluation, respiratory distress, cardiac/resp arrest, etc.)Responds to, evaluates and treats in-hospital medical/surgical emergencies and/or inpatient related problems including patient injuriesProvide preliminary interpretation of xrays and/or labs included in emergency work upParticipates in disaster emergencies, real and/or practiceProvides in-hospital medical staff coverage at specified hours as scheduledProvides face to face evaluations of in-hospital patients requiring restraint and seclusionHours are either days or nights 6:30am-7pm and 6:30p-7aWeekends are every 3rd rotationHospitalist RoleSee patients exclusively in hospital settingProvide day and evening inpatient coverage on a rotating basisResponsibility of admissions, assisting with cross coverage, as well as coverage of Observation Unit which is managed by Hospitalist groupVariable hours including day (7am-6pm) and evening (1pm-midnight) shiftsExcellent supportive team environmentFairview Southdale is a community hospital with a high level of servicesGreat technology including fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (EPIC), E-signature medical records and digital PACs imaging systemIncome Details:Initial market competitive salaryQualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness ProgramComprehensive benefits package: annual CME allowance, malpractice insurance with tail coverage, retirement contributions & more

Qualifications:
Graduate of a school of nursing and accredited Adult/Gero, Acute Care, or Family Nurse Practitioner training programBC/BE through the AANP or ANCCLicensed or ability to obtain APRN license with the Minnesota Board of NursingAbility to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of MinnesotaMeet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and PrivilegesPrefer 2 years or more of hospital-based experience in ICU, hospitalist or emergency setting. 2-3 month training period for inexperienced APPs that would go through ICU, hospitalist, ED, OR, and house physician rotations, in addition to some didactic work.
