The Department of Neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA currently seeks applicants for a physiatrist faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level (HS Clinical series) with focus and expertise in spinal disorders. The physiatrist will work with an interdisciplinary team including neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, and physical therapists. The physiatrist will hold clinics at one or more UCLA Health clinic locations. Clinics will also include performing and interpreting electrodiagnostic studies. Additional opportunity is available for interventional spine procedures at outpatient surgery centers.

The physiatrist should be familiar with examining and supporting the needs of chronic neurologic diseases. This entails initial and follow-up assessments of motor function and functional needs including the evaluation of pain, the need for wheelchair and orthotic modifications, and the management of medications. Furthermore, clinical and research expertise in the rehabilitation treatment of motor, sensory, and functional perturbations associated with spinal cord injury and other CNS injury conditions are sought. The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $239,365/year, commensurate with experience.


The candidate must possess an outstanding record of clinical excellence, academic productivity, and a demonstrated commitment to education. Candidates must have an M.D. degree or equivalent, and eligibility for California medical licensure. Candidates must be board certified or eligible and have completed their fellowship training in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Compensation and academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
