The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences is seeking a Geographic Full Time (GFT) Obstetrician/Gynecologist with subspecialty training in pediatric and adolescent gynecology. The successful candidate will be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank) in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be eligible to practice general obstetrics and gynecology with fellowship training in pediatric and adolescent gynecology. The successful candidate will be invited to join the Section of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology with academic appointment in the Department of Reproductive Health Sciences.

Clinical responsibilities include acting as a consultant obstetrician/gynecologist based at Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital, Winnipeg Health Sciences, with a special focus in pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG).  Provision of gynecologic surgical services for patients <18 years old is expected. Specific interest in endocrine disorders in young people would be an asset. This person would also be expected to maintain a small teaching practice providing adult gynaecologic care and participate in the on-call schedule for gynecology. Clinical responsibilities may include adolescent and adult obstetrical care and associated call coverage, depending on the interests of the candidate.

The successful candidate will have sufficient research experience to effectively use the 30% allocated research time to further the academic pursuits of the Section of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Research infrastructure, specifically the Women’s Health Research Support Unit, is available to support researchers in the department with regulatory requirements, study design, participant recruitment and analysis. Startup research funds are available with the intended goal of establishing an independently-funded research program.

Winnipeg Health Sciences is a teaching hospital and therefore the successful candidate will demonstrate effective mentorship of colleagues, residents and undergraduate students is an essential skill. The successful candidate will also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, essential to work with this unique patient population and to foster collaborative interprofessional and interdisciplinary relationships. The section of pediatric and adolescent gynecology is small group of clinicians with a strong history of interdisciplinary collaboration between the departments of OBGYN and the pediatric subspecialties.

  • Current or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba specialist registry as a generalist Obstetrician Gynecologist
  • Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Eligibility for hospital privileges within Shared Health
  • Eligibility for a University of Manitoba teaching appointment
