UnitCancer Service Line Admin - Urology
Location: UCH - Memorial Health Central
Work Schedule: 1.0/80 hr. pp - Full Time - Days
Minimum Experience: 2 years of nursing experience.
* Hours: M-F 0800-1630 no weekends or major holidays required.
* Local travel between clinics required - Mileage reimbursement
* Oncology experience required
* OCN within 2 years of hire required
Our comprehensive cancer care service line consists of many disciplines and support services. The team includes nurse navigators, oncology social workers, nutritionists, financial coordinators, tobacco cessation, and genetic counselors. Our nurse navigators are available to guide patients through the continuum of care. From diagnosis through survivorship or end of life, the nurse navigator educates and advocates for the patient and assists the patient with care coordination. The navigator maintains communication with our support services and the medical team involved with the patients treatment plan. Each of our nurse navigators specializes in different disease sites to include: Breast, GI, Thoracic, Urology, Neuro, Head and Neck, GYN and Survivorship.
Serves as a patient advocate, liaison, and advisor/educator to assist patients with navigating the continuum of care.
* Rounds on/reviews assigned patients regularly and evaluates patient progress with plan of care. Communicates plan of care to patient and family and solicits concerns, questions, and issues for resolution.
* Provides emotional support, counseling, clinical education and expert guidance to patients and families to promote their ability to understand and meaningfully participate in the healthcare process and personal decision-making.
* Serves as a liaison between patient and clinical staff, administration, physicians, managed care companies, and community/external resources to coordinate/maximize resources and identify/resolve barriers to the plan of care.
* Assists patients and families with resolving financial, psycho-social, functional, and administrative issues by advising of options and referring to appropriate resources. Intervenes as appropriate to advocate for patient and family.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of nursing experience. ADDITIONAL POSITION LEVEL CREDENTIAL INFORMATION: OCN within 2 years of hire
* BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $34.73 - $53.83 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
