Position description
Nurse Practitioner - Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Anticoagulation and Thrombophilia Clinic

Exclusively Outpatient NP position with no call, hospital rounding or weekend coverage. The NP will work collaboratively with the anticoagulation clinic nursing and pharmacy team. In partnership with the pharmacist and nursing team, the NP would be expected to manage a variety of aspects of anticoagulation management. This includes, but is not limited to, warfarin dosing management, bridging when off therapy, and review of complex cases. An ideal candidate is flexible to meet the needs of the department and clinic, self-directed, motivated to help grown and optimize clinic, and continually driven to improve their own practice through professional and education opportunities. In addition, the NP will collaborate with other subspecialities and primary care both within and outside of Mayo Clinic. Professional opportunities to participate in weekly and monthly educational conferences, ongoing process improvement, clinical research and teaching of a variety of learners. Previous anticoagulation clinic experience preferred.

This position is currently housed under the Department of Cardiology, but in the future may be under a formal Thrombophilia and Anticoagulation Clinic.

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner:Must be a graduate of an accredited university.
Must be licensed or eligible to practice as an CNP in the State of Arizona. Must have national certification

Additional qualifications
1-2 years of nurse practitioner experience preferred. Previous anticoagulation clinic experience preferred.
Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
Two to five years of clinical experience preferred.
Primary care, acute care, and/or surgical experience preferred.
Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

License or certification
Current RN licensure from Arizona, or valid compact state license with Arizona license obtained within 90 days of start date, Advanced Practice Certificate, and Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in Arizona. Certification as nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization.
Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
Must provide evidence of application for DEA certificate upon hire, obtain DEA certificate within 90 days of hire, and maintain certificate thereafter unless waived by department/division.
Maintains ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross as required by specific department or division. Maintains specialty certification as required for specific areas.
