The Life of an HCA Nurse

The Sepsis Coordinator leads and facilitates the development, implementation and ongoing adherence to the identification and treatment of the septic patient population.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the evidence based screening and treatment protocols become the standard of care within the facility.
  • Collaborates with medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to patients with a diagnosis of sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock.
  • Reviews clinical data and presents the data in an understandable and meaningful context to staff and physicians to motivate adherence to protocols.
  • Provides education and clinical expertise to care team (physicians, LIPs and staff), patients and families.
  • Collaborates with physicians and staff in an effort to maximize timely evidence based care to decrease morbidity, mortality and length of stay.


Qualifications - External
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelors Degree required, Nurse Practitioner and/or Masters degree preferred
  • Current state of Missouri RN licensure required.
  • Three to five years clinical experience, prefer ED/critical care experience
  • BLS & ACLS certification required at hire and maintained.
