CNO Chief Nursing Officer Psychiatric Hospital

Full Time

Location: Atlanta, GA

Salary: $130,000 - $160,000 Annually

The Chief Nursing Officer will be responsible for overseeing the performance of all nursing and psychiatric staff, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The CNO for Behavioral Health will work closely with senior management team to identify priorities and develop action plans in order to meet organizational goals. In addition, Chief Nursing Officer CNO will ensure that the Psychiatric Hospital meets clinical standards at all times, while maintaining patient safety.

  • Provides clinical leadership for the development and implementation of best practices in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
  • Ensures that psychiatric and behavioral health policy and practice are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all aspects of nursing care are aligned with the healthcare organization's mission and strategy.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Works with other department directors, providers, and staff to review and approve nursing training programs, educational materials, and initiatives that support the delivery of quality care and services to the psychiatric patients and families
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered.
  • Develops leadership skills, fosters a positive culture, and sets an example for others in the organization.
  • Sets and manages budgets for staffing, facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Provides oversight and direction of nursing staff.
  • Manages clinical competencies and proficiency of nursing staff.
  • Develops and maintains nursing workforce planning and development processes.
  • Encourages and leads performance improvement through coaching, development, counseling, and other activities.
  • Assesses and utilizes available resources to determine the most effective methods of delivering quality care to patients.
  • Demonstrates competence in all areas of psychiatry/mental health nursing.


Requirements of the CNO Chief Nursing Officer Psychiatric Hospital
  • MSN or Master's Degree in related field required
  • Significant behavioral health/psychiatric care experience REQUIRED
  • 5+ years of experience in nursing administration and/or leadership experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
