NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County , located in the heart of Brooklyn, accommodate more than 518,076 outpatient visits, more than 141,328 emergency room visits, and with 627 beds, more than 25,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.
Responsibilities:
Provide psychiatric evaluation and care for children and adolescents with or suspected of having intellectual, developmental and learning disabilities, or other neurological disorders and mental health disorders. Provide consultation as needed. Support an environment of academic inquiry to support the training of students, residents, and fellows through our primary affiliation with SUNY Downstate.
  • Provide direct psychiatric evaluation, assessment and treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed or suspected of having intellectual, developmental and learning disabilities, or other neurological disorders affecting adaptive and cognitive functioning
  • Responsible for a clinical caseload seen either in collaboration with other clinicians or alone to provide appropriate psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic management
  • Liaison with other medical providers, schools, group homes and other agencies
  • Responsible for chart documentation and billing in a timely and complete manner according to standards of the clinic and good medical practice
  • Teaching and supervision of fellows in assessment, medication management, and treatment of children with intellectual, developmental and learning disabilities, or other neurological cognitive disorders with option for an academic appointment through SUNY Downstate
  • Teaching and supervision of medical students and residents from general psychiatry, pediatrics and pediatric neurology
  • Participation in academics and recruitment for the Child and Adolescent Fellowship
  • Assist in providing clinical coverage for psychiatric consultation and emergencies, for patients seen in the DEC, Child OPD, and consultation for assessment of children seen in the general hospital/pediatrics
  • Assist the directors in preparation for reports, surveys, and ensure compliance with standards of practice and regulatory agencies
Qualifications:
  • MD or D.O. from an accredited School of Medicine
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York
  • Completion of residency training from an accredited program in Psychiatry
  • Board Certification/eligibility in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire

Annual Base Salary Range: $247,200 (board eligible) - $257,500 (board certified)
