Optum Financial is seeking a Director of Consumer Payments, who will report to the President, of the Consumer Business Leader within the Optum Financial Consumer Group.

Director of Consumer Payments is accountable for establishing and managing a shared service operator model with responsibilities for indirect management and oversight of multiple shared service functions that will include alignment on KPIs, performance and financial management and execution of key initiatives. The successful candidate must lead by example with the highest professional standards, develop solid business relationships across OFS, and manage daily operations of multiple levels of staff and multiple functions/departments across one or more business units. May include day to day site operations, management leadership internal and external to organization, accountable for financial and non-financial results (budgets and actuals). Project management and implementation, staff management.

The selected candidate must possess exceptional executive presence and be accepted by senior decision makers across the OFS business. In this role, the Director of Consumer Payments will work cross-functionally across the OFS organization working with shared service partners from Operations, Technology, Product, Sales/Growth, Marketing and Finance. They will be responsible for driving the overall alignment of goals, performance and financials across the Consumer Business.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage and influence people both directly and indirectly
  • Provide leadership to and is accountable for the performance and results of diverse or broad functions through multiple layers of management
  • Demonstrate understanding of competitor landscape within the market (what KPIs matter)
  • Owns output of the shared service partners for the Consumer Business made up of all related processes
  • Drives programs that impact performance, markets of customers and consumers
  • Develops, translates, and executes strategies or functional and operational objectives at the segment level
  • Establish and/or implement internal and/or external service level agreements in order to ensure ability to monitor and measure program performance (e.g., turnaround time; quality; effectiveness)
  • Provide guidance, expertise, and/or assistance to internal and/or external partners (e.g., operations, technology, marketing, growth, product) to ensure programs and strategies are implemented and maintained effectively
  • Work with internal/external partners to ensure performance is tracked accurately utilizing internal tools and processes (e.g., dashboards; scorecards; reports)
  • Request and/or receive relevant performance data from internal partners and review for accuracy
  • Provide standard performance reports (e.g., scorecards) to update relevant internal and external stakeholders overall performance
  • Facilitate regular meetings (e.g., MBRs; QBRs) with relevant internal and/or external stakeholders to review and discuss performance successes and opportunities
  • Conduct deep dive program reviews with relevant internal and/or external stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Partner with relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop and review potential operational strategies, programs, and plans (e.g., affordability initiatives; quality programs; projected resource needs)
  • Collaborate with Operations, Technology, Marketing, Sales/Growth, and other functional leadership to maintain internal alignment and cohesiveness of initiative and work priorities across business and function
  • Actively work to build and mentor highly motivated, enthusiastic, and skilled teams
  • Partners with Solutran and HBA P&L Business leads on budget setting and strategic planning

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of strategic planned or related experience
  • Experience interacting effectively with executives, building solid relationships across a variety of stakeholders, and obtaining buy in for major initiatives
  • Experience producing comprehensive reports and presentations for leaaders
  • Experience establishing and achieving concrete measurement standards for shared service partners including financial goals and ROI
  • Experience developing and implementing new systems, programs, techniques, and procedures with a successful track record in achieving overall objectives
  • Demonstrated expert collaborator, communicator, and executive presence
  • Solid financial and business model acumen
  • Solid understanding of market, industry, and consumer trends and how to apply them on an ongoing basis to create leading solutions
  • Proven and solid organization, analytical, financial, and quantitative skills
  • Ability to travel

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $118,000 to $226,800. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
