The Vanderbilt Eye Institute (VEI) in Nashville, Tennessee is actively seeking a fellowship-trained vitreoretinal specialist to join our department. VEI is a large multi-specialty academic ophthalmology practice with multiple satellite offices and annual patient volume in excess of 170,000. The candidate will be joining an established, world-class retina division with 10 current full-time retina faculty with subspecialty expertise in uveitis, ocular oncology, pediatric retina, and inherited retinal disease. The retina division currently trains 3 vitreoretinal fellows and has active clinical and basic research programs.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is the largest comprehensive research, teaching, and patient care health system in the Mid-South region, with the highest ranked adult and children’s hospitals in the Southeast by U.S. News & World Report. As of 2023, the health system had more than 3 million patient visits a year, a workforce of 40,000, and 1,741 licensed hospital beds.  

VEI seeks candidates who are certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology or board eligible. This position is a full-time clinician-educator track. The position is open to current clinical faculty or those finishing fellowship training who enjoy teaching and mentoring, are motivated to care for adults and children, are interested in clinical research, and desire to be a part of a collegial and prominent academic ophthalmology department and multispecialty VUMC team.
