About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - PCU **Job Specialty:** 2 East **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-Hour Days **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** 1-2 years **License:** LA License Required **Certifications:** - BLS - ACLS - NIHSS (preferred) **Must-Have:** - Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival **Job Description:** - Care for patients with various conditions including respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, post-surgery, post-cardiac catheterization with intervention, requiring frequent monitoring and/or intervention. - Manage patient ratios of 1:3-4. - Skills in titrating cardiac drips and some vasopressor titration, insulin drips, managing and discontinuing arterial lines, managing and pulling venous sheaths, central line management, tracheostomies, feeding tubes, and Bipap. - Work with support staff like charge nurse, in-house phlebotomy, VAT team, resource nurse head, and PCC during specified hours, respiratory therapist assigned to the unit, and hospitalist available on call, 24/7. - Utilize Meditech Expanse for EMR, Alaris for IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing. - Potential float to units such as Cardiac Stepdown or Medsurg with different patient ratios. - Participate in a 2-day hospital orientation and 2 shifts on the unit for orientation. - Weekend rotation is every other weekend, working 4 days one week and 3 days the next week is mandatory. - Approval for up to 7 days of time off, with contract extension to accommodate. **Schedule Expectations:** - No on-call duties. - Holiday scheduling per rotation. **Other Notes:** - Scrub Color: Pewter - Diverse unit culture with many travelers; traveler-friendly environment.
