SUMMARY OF POSITION:
We're looking for a Business Development Director / Manager for a 3PL Logistics company in Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Business Development Manager will interact directly with clients of the business and is in charge of maximizing the use of dedicated and brokerage capacity to satisfy clients' shipping demands. You will be in charge of coordinating efforts between divisions to fulfill transportation requirements for planned orders while maximizing cost-effectiveness and upholding the highest standard of service.
The Business Development Manager will create a personal sales plan, actively seeking out new potential customers and generating new business through lead generation, market research, and leveraging existing connections. Through cold calling and networking, you will attract new leads, contacts, and opportunities. Through the identification, solicitation, and acquisition of new business, this job promotes revenue growth. Sr. Customer Service Reps and Customer Service Reps are led, coached, and mentored by the business development manager.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- 3+ Years of Business Development experience at a 3PL or Asset Based Logistics Company (TL, LTL, Reefer, Intermodal)
- 3+ Years of BD Experience moving Produce (Food and Beverage Exp)
- 3+ Years of experience dealing with Carriers and Shippers
- Base Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 (Negotiable)
- Commission: 5% bonus on Net Revenue with a 4 to 1 Target Model
- Current Bus Devs: Highest Performer is on $1MM net revenue per year
- Engage new clients to increase sales volume and achieve margin targets.
- Determine the transportation options that best satisfy the needs and financial constraints of a customer by assessing their present transportation needs.
- Gather and evaluate data on the customer's transportation needs, routes, costs, and logistics.
- Visit potential customers at their place of business.
- Create leads and cold-call potential customers to increase sales.
- Establish and keep close connections with key account decision-makers.
- Provide outstanding customer service at the point of interaction with clients in order to keep growth at profitable levels.
- Achieve or surpass annual sales and profitability targets by securing short- and long-term business from designated accounts.
- Partner with customers and Carrier Sales to identify solutions for any unforeseen urgent or last-minute shipments.
- Take orders, negotiate and develop customer rates.
- Sets pricing targets and coordinates pricing with Carriers
- Analyzes capacity and volume needs to ensure business requirements are met.
- Collaborate with clients to enhance capacity requirements and predictions.
- Build and maintain relationships and channels of communication with different departments.
- Work with various departments as required to efficiently manage the track and trace process, maintain order entry compliance, and address claim issues.
- Enhance tracking and status update efficiency for all customer orders moving through Mercury Gate.
- Adhere to all business policies and procedures and aid in ensuring compliance.
- Effectively address problems and/or escalate them as necessary.
- Carry out additional tasks as needed.
