The Senior Director of Development for St. Luke's Foundation works with the Foundation's development team with the special responsibilities for planning and implementing a program to identify, cultivate and solicit donors with the ability to make major annual gifts, special project gifts and planned gifts directed to the mission of UnityPoint Health - CR. The Senior Director should have a proven track record in securing major gifts and charitable planned giving and have shown significant growth in these areas at his/her former employers.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Business Planning
• Organize major and annual gifts, endowments and cultivation programs of major donors using a variety of methods including personal visits, involving other staff, administration, board members and friends.
• Identify prospective planned giving prospects within the major gift prospects and work cooperatively with the Directors in cultivating and securing planned gifts.
• Plan appropriate stewardship programs for major donors including the participation in the annual donor recognition event.

Strategic Planning
• Participate as a full member of the UPH-CR Foundation team in planning, organizing and coordinating annual fundraising activities and events.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with the Senior VP & COO at UPH-CR, other directors and managers at UPH-CR hospital in addition to the President and team at the UPH-CR Foundation.
• Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other's views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team goals; and put the success of the team above own interests.
• Play a significant role in planning and implementing the Celebration of Generosity.
• Attendance at many evening and weekend events representing UPH - CR.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements

Education:
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
• Ten plus years' experience in a related area of charitable philanthropic work (including major gifts experience) or sales/marketing background of similar tenure.
• Experience in organizing, recording and retrieving important data and facts, including web-based sources.
• Experience in developing and successfully implementing a major gift plan for UPH-CR, including the building of endowment funds as part of those plans.
License(s)/Certification(s):
• Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written skills including experience with e-mail, fundraising software, and digital communication.
• Basic understanding of, or interest in, laws and regulations regarding charitable giving.
• Ability to function as a recognized leader within a diverse team of individuals at UPH-CR Foundation.
• Proven track record of interacting with and securing major gifts from individual and corporate donors.
• Knowledge of developing and securing grants from foundations and corporations.

Provides oversight and assists with planning of the Koehler Legacy Society's annual event. Solicits gifts of $5,000 and above modeling a moves management strategy to build a major gifts program. Also leads/manages major capital campaigns. Reports to the President of St. Luke's Foundation and works collaboratively with Foundation staff, the Foundation board and internal/external constituents.

Responsibilities
Portfolio Management and Fundraising
- Manage a portfolio of 175 or more prospects (corporate and individual) and conduct personal visits, phone calls, tours and other meaningful interactions to qualify, cultivate, solicit, ultimately securing major and planned gifts.
- Maintain accurate and meaningful constituent records utilizing a Customer Relationship management system.
- Collaborate with the President and Foundation Board on prospect and donor research. Be accountable for growth in the prospect pool for future relationship cultivation.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of all major capital campaigns.
- Provide opportunities to educate Foundation Board members in fundraising activities.
Planned Giving
- Build professional resources in the community who may advise on specific giving vehicles and additionally be a source of referrals.
- Establish a planned giving committee to provide presentations/seminars to targeted groups.
- Responsible for identifying and securing prospects for the estate planning program and stewarding donors who result from this program.
- Assist in the development of materials that promote and enhance the work of the foundation and participate in the planning of donor recognition and cultivation events.
Educational Outreach
- Orchestrate educational opportunities for key members of the organization - physicians, executive team, board members in the cultivation/solicitation/stewardship process.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum five years professional fundraising development with proven record of achievement in planned giving and/or major donor initiatives.
- Experience either in a staff or board member role of a non-profit organization.
