The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is seeking a Staff Clinician to work in the Bladder Cancer research program within the Genitourinary Malignancies Branch (GMB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR). The CCR is the largest division of the NCI intramural research program and comprises nearly 250 basic and clinical research groups. The GMB focuses on investigating the biology of genitourinary cancers, developing new strategies for treating those cancers, and evaluating these new therapeutic approaches through science-driven clinical research. The existing faculty in the GMB is an outstanding group of internationally recognized biomedical researchers covering a range of basic and clinical research areas in bladder cancer and complemented by the other NCI research branches and centers and resources within the Intramural Research Program. About the Position
The successful candidate will serve a pivotal role in the translational/clinical program of the Bladder Cancer research program in the GMB. As Staff Clinician, the applicant will be responsible for the design, execution, and all regulatory aspects of clinical trials for patients at the NCI Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Staff Clinician clinical responsibilities will include attending the Medical Oncology Service for up to four weeks each year, contribute to daily clinical responsibilities for patients, staff patients in the bladder clinic, be responsible for the evaluation and care of those patients, as well as conduct consultations in medical oncology for patients at the NIH Clinical Center. Additionally, the successful applicant will participate in other clinical activities, such as training and teaching of medical oncology Fellows, as well as nurses and support personnel involved in care.
Qualifications and Job Details
Degree Required
M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. (or equivalent)
License to practice medicine in the United States
Board certification or eligibility in Medical Oncology
Previous experience as a medical oncologist primarily in bladder cancer and/or completion of an advanced medical oncology fellowship for 1-2 years in bladder cancer is highly desirable.

Required and Preferred Skills
Preferred candidates will have a M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and certification in clinical/translational medicine. The candidate should also have a strong track record of achievement, expertise, and experience in this respective area. Previous experience as an investigator in clinical trials would also be an advantage. Applicants must be licensed to practice medicine in the United States and board eligible/board certified in Oncology.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience. A complete federal benefits package is available, including retirement, health insurance, annual and sick leave, and the Thrift Savings Plan (401K equivalent).
