Shift Details: 32 hour day/evening rotating, every other weekend, every other holiday.

St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent's is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system's second-largest hospital.

Position Summary:
Works in coordination with nursing staff for patient care activities.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with procedures ordered by physician and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).
  2. Assists patients with tending to personal care, activities of daily living, ambulation and transfers/transport
  3. Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  4. Document vital signs, I&O's, ADLs in the electronic health record
  5. Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
  6. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to population specific facilitating timely and individualized care of assigned patients
  7. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to appropriate patient population.
  8. Adheres to organizational safety practices and standards
  9. Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration (Required):

  • Certified Nurse Aide credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified Heart Saver AED credentialed from the American Heart Association(AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.


Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program.


Work Experience:
One year acute care preferred.
