General Statement of Duties:

The Radiologic Technologist Surgery takes images of various portions of the body by operating radiologic equipment according to developmental factors and age specifics under supervision and as directed by a Physician.

Essential Duties:

  1. Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures.
  2. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
  3. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
  4. Examines radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  5. Assists the O.R. staff in preparing the room for a procedure and during turnover between procedures.
  6. Performs data entry related to patient care.
  7. Maintains and stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  8. Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment. Notifies BioMed when issues arise with equipment so that appropriate repairs can be completed and service tracked.
  9. Instructs patient regarding procedures. Observes patients and maintains comfort and safety levels during examination.
  10. Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree required in Radiologic Technology
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) certification required
  • Current Machine Operators License with the Indiana State Department of Health required
  • BLS certification required
  • 1-2 years of experience required
    • 2-4 years of experience preferred
