The Director of Nursing is an integral member of the Ambulatory Care Administration. The Director of Nursing work under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer of Ambulatory Care or a designee, he/she assumes administrative responsibilities and clinical oversight for Patient Care Services within Ambulatory Care. His/her responsibilities are carried out within the framework of the Hospital By-Laws, the Mission and Vision statements, policies and procedures, all regulatory (TJC, NYSDOH, NYCDOAH and professional organizational standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIS:
The Director of Nursing will coordinate all patient care and operational activities and has twenty four (24) hour responsibility for patient care areas.

Promotes a positive and pleasant attitude conducive to the workplace, which promotes customer service and enhances and furthers the hospital's Mission, Vision and Value statement.
Implements the best practices to ensure effective change management.
Develop strong teams through coaching and mentoring.
Works collaboratively with all team members and stakeholders to ensure all performance metrics for the Ambulatory Care Service is met.
Collaborates with peers and Nurse Managers in developing mechanisms that improves continuous feedback relative to the current status of patient care/nursing practice issues in order to comply with hospital policy/procedure, regulatory agency mandates and standards.
Makes environmental rounds in all assigned areas, completes rounds checklist and implements immediate follow-up on environmental issues in an attempt for resolution.
Communicates with Public Affairs and Community on issues involving media inquiry.
Contacts engineering, MIS Key Control when there are systems, repair and access issues requiring immediate attention.
Follows-up on patient/family complaints in an attempt for resolution.
Prepares written summary reports of all issues and activities to immediate supervisor.
Acts as a resource person to nursing personnel and other disciplines on assigned tour, in interpreting/enforcing nursing policies/procedures.
Consults with nursing leaders and continuing education staff in planning educational activities for all levels of nursing personnel.
Enforces staff attendance at mandated programs.
Collaborates with nursing leaders and PI staff in integrating quality improvement reports with educational activities.
Keeps a record of educational programs given to assigned tours.
Seeks internal and external resources to assist with programs.
Develops mechanism(s) to monitor, enforce standards of nursing practice and patient care.
