WORK SCHEDULE:

Full-time. 40 hours per week, may be required to work additional clinic hours as deemed necessary for adequate deliverable care of services.

SUMMARY:

Serves as a practical nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures; sets up procedure room and equipment;
* Provides individualized patient teaching on a preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
* Prepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, sublingual, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, topical, dermal and inhalation routes.
* Prepares and positions patient for examinations and treatments.
* Participates in in-services and continuing education programs.
* Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.
* Ensure preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
* Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
* Provide patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.
* Prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and Air Force-approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health record.
* Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
* Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, speaking or translating. Periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 30 pounds. Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage. May be assigned occasional to moderate periods of analytical tasks requiring extensive reasoning abilities. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit military treatment facility such as a clinic, outpatient facility or hospital. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities and abilities. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids, latex, radiation or other contaminants and safety issues. May be exposed to infection or diseases from contact with patients. Work is highly social with patients and can be stressful with a high emotional element. Decisions made may substantially impact patients and their families.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must have, as a minimum, a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) from an accredited national, state or military trained equivalent school.
* Possess and maintain an active, valid, current, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a license vocational nurse (LVN) in a US Jurisdiction.
* A minimum of one-year experience within the past 36 months working in a pediatric clinical service area.
* Knowledge of standard nursing care principles, procedures, and practices.
* Health and immunization requirements: annual physical; annual TB test; annual influenza; MMR; varicella; Hepatitis B.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

* Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
* Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
* Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
* Knowledge of standard nursing care principles, procedures, and practices.
* Knowledge and skill in cardiopulmonary resuscitation used to initiate resuscitation measures when necessary and assist medical team in providing support measure.
* Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their expected beneficial effects, and potential side effects.
* Ability to perform infection control procedures.

CSS Compensation and Benefits package:

* Pay Range: $18.26 per hour based on experience
* SCA Health and Welfare: $4.22/hr paid toward employee only medical insurance. Any remainder paid in cash on bi-weekly paycheck.
