Registered Nurse

Overview

The Registered Nurse reports directly to the Vice President of Health Services and is responsible for coordinating nursing services for persons severed within one of our Brooklyn locations.

Responsibilities

* Triage
* Facilitating new admission assessments, i.e., history, review of systems, screening, etc.
* Monitoring all monthly medication orders, interim orders, Medication Administration Records (MAR), and documentation and dispensing.
* Monitoring Medication supplies, both stock and prescription items.
* Monitoring and tracking compliance for all persons served on psychotropic medications and tracking side effects.
* Phlebotomy and collection of all laboratory samples, if certified, within the Residential Program.
* Organization of medical carts and collection of unused items for return to the pharmacy for destruction.
* Conducting trainings as needed regarding health and medication information and issues.
* Administration of medications during nursing shifts at supervisor's discretion.
* Act as a liaison between programs to address issues of transition and preparing medication documentation and supplies necessary to facilitate transfer.
* Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
* Adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
* Maintains continuity among nursing team by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

* Registered Nurse with NYS Nursing license, required
* Expert knowledge of nursing practice within residential services
* Excellent communication skills, required;
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), required
* Organizational skills
