Reporting to the VP, Surgical Services you will be accountable for the strategic development and operational performance of General Surgery. The Director provides a broad perspective as relates to care delivery for the specialty including inpatient, outpatient, and surgical/procedural areas across all sites of care throughout the organization. Youll maintain deep understanding of the competitive landscape and identify strategies and tactics for areas of opportunity and risk. Partnering with Strategy and Business Development and Regional Network leaders, MarComm and physician liaisons youll identify, assess and implement regional and national strategies. Working collaboratively in a matrixed environment, youll drive strategic development of systems, processes and controls to support effective management and operations of assigned service lines/specialties.
As the Director, General Surgery, youre also accountable for continually assessing the efficacy, safety, quality and cost of patient care in accordance with organizational, professional and regulatory standards and includes benchmarking with other institutions. In partnership with the physician leaders and managers in each area, and applying Lean methodology, youll implement operational improvements to maximize resources and improve outcomes/value. Youll work closely with site of care leaders, APP Chief and other clinical and ancillary support leaders to ensure alignment of efforts and collaborate with Department of Pediatrics and University of Washington Physicians (UWP) Department Directors to ensure recruitment and academic components of the division are supported. You will also collaborate with Seattle Children's Research Institute and Foundation.

Requirements

- MHA, MBA, MPH, MSN, or related field
- At least five years experience of progressively responsible senior management experience in a hospital or health care setting.
- Demonstrated experience in program and business planning.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in an environment of rapid change.

Preferred

- Experience in an academic medical setting
- Experience with Lean methodology
- Experience in pediatrics
